Prevention, Education, and Training Services
JJPI is committed to using best-practice approaches to prevent child sexual abuse. We are also committed to furthering the understanding of trauma and how to interact with others in a trauma-sensitive way. One way that we support this commitment is through the provision of services focusing on prevention, education, and training.
JJPI staff members have developed a series of workshops that focus on preventing and responding to child sexual abuse and related trauma. Our approach is based on a public health method, which assumes that causal risk factors for sexual abuse are omnipresent, yet can be minimized through an increase in awareness and application of practices that reduce risk. All of our workshops build on the most recent research findings, are informed by our clinical knowledge, provide examples of “real life” experiences, and suggest practical steps for implementing risk reduction strategies.
Education and training services are available to local community groups, schools, youth-serving organizations, and other interested parties. Workshops are customized to the needs of the individual group – and brought to your location. All workshop participants receive booklets, brochures, resource information and certificates of training provided by the Joseph J. Peters Institute.
Rates for our workshops are reasonable and are based on several factors, including the size of the group being trained.
