Project Safe and Smart
Project Safe and Smart empowers children and their parents to recognize and prevent potential child abuse. Specially trained facilitators from JJPI and our program partner Philadelphia Children’s Alliance implement this evidence-based program through classroom-based sessions for children and workshops for caregivers in School District of Philadelphia and Philadelphia-based charter schools. The program is funded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
The goal of Project Safe and Smart is to maximize the likelihood of identifying potential abuse, stop harmful situations, and prevent future child sexual abuse within our communities.
Through Project Safe and Smart, JJPI provides:
- Safe Touches: an interactive and age-appropriate puppet-based workshop delivered to students in Kindergarten through third grade, teaching and reinforcing important body safety concepts
- Smarter Parents. Safer Kids: a universal prevention workshop delivered to parents or caregivers of children under age 13, teaching and building skills related to child healthy sexual development, communicating with children about boundaries, ensuring safety, and obtaining help and resources
Students and families access Project Safe and Smart through their participating School District of Philadelphia or Philadelphia-based charter school. Schools interested in implementing Project Safe and Smart may express interest through completing this form or by emailing
