Overview of Safety and Responsibility Programs

Services for Individuals with Sexual Behavior Problems

The clinicians at JJPI's Safety & Responsibility Program (SRP) are skilled in providing specialized services for individuals who have sexual behavior problems and/or who have been charged with or convicted of sexual offenses. Treatment for these individuals is provided at our Safety and Responsibility Services location, at 1211 Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia.

Individuals who seek treatment for sexual behavioral problems at SRP are offered comprehensive evaluations, followed by treatment modalities that are based on the Risk-Need-Responsivity framework and may include both group and individual therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, the Good Lives Model, Prolonged Exposure therapy for trauma, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma Affect Regulation: Guide for Education & Therapy (TARGET), family therapy, relapse prevention training, psycho-education modules, safety planning, and overall wellness planning.

JJPI employs evidence-based and evidence-informed practices across all of our programs and all evaluations are completed under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist with expertise in the treatment of individuals with sexual behavior problems.

JJPI is certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Probation and Parole’s Sexual Offender Assessment Board (SOAB) as a treatment provider for individuals designated as Sexually Violent Predators (SVPs).

Sexuality Education and Responsibility (SER) Program

The Sexuality Education and Responsibility (SER) Program was developed in May of 2014 as a partnership between the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and JJPI in order to address the demand for prostitution within the city of Philadelphia. SER is an educational diversion program using a brief group therapy format that assesses and treats individuals arrested for first time solicitation or attempted solicitation of prostitution.

Services for Individuals with a History of Perpetrating Relational Violence

JJPI understands that relational violence arises from multiple pathways within relationships and that treating individuals with a history of perpetrating relational violence requires an approach that takes a look at the ways in which patterns of violence arise and are maintained, which then provides a roadmap to determine the factors that should be targeted in treatment. Our ultimate goal is to help individuals discontinue violence in their relationships and live safe and healthy lives.
